Rosas opponentsBiography:
Born in Buenos Aires in 1802, she married Agustín Garrigós Conget in 1823. He was part of Rosas's regime, but she was against it. She was a member of the Sociedad de Beneficencia. From 1838 to 1852 she was inspector of the Casa de Huérfanos, and again from 1862-67. She was president of the Sociedad from 1840-45; from 1852-54 and 1864-67. She, along with other women, ensured that the Sociedad survived when it lost government support between 1845 and 1852. She ensured that the new government resumed support of the Sociedad in 1852. She died from cholera in Buenos Aires on 4 April 1867. (Sosa de Newton, 84-85)
