Text: Cubran cipreses fúnebres la escena
del sacrificio atroz, riéguela el llanto
de la nación chilena;
y desde el trono santo
donde reside el Hacedor Divino,
grato perdón descienda al asesino.
Mas eternice el genio de la historia
la incorrupta memoria
del que sabe morir como hombre fuerte,
del que marcha a la muerte
sin que le importe susto.
Así muere el honrado y muere el justo,
así, inmolados por venganzas fieras,
murieron en Mendoza los Carreras...
