A new e-learning package, ‘Exploring the Sepsis Care Bundle’ has been developed jointly by James Henderson (HELM, School of Health Sciences), Gill Langmack (School of Health Sciences), Anna Davis (former Deputy Sister, NUH) and Sally Wood (Sepsis Lead Nurse, NUH) as a collaboration between the University of Nottingham’s School of Health Sciences and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Exploring the Sepsis Care Bundle – link to e-learning package
This e-learning package explores the issues involved for the patient who is admitted with sepsis so learners can:
- Define sepsis
- Understand the physiological effects of sepsis
- Examine the 2016 NICE sepsis care bundle guidelines using a case study approach to:
- Explore the clinical assessment of sepsis
- Investigate the management and treatment of a patient who has sepsis

The group presented the resource at the ‘Lets Beat Sepsis’ conference at the University of Hertfordshire on 5 July and have also co-authored an article “Development of an e-learning package for sepsis care” for the British Journal of Nursing (BJN).
