This RLO looks at problems people with dementia experience when communicating and strategies healthcare professionals can use to improve their communication.

Dementia and Cognitive Loss - Caring for people with dementia in the general hospital
Dementia is very common. A quarter of general hospital in-patients have cognitive impairment, Dementia or dementia complicated by delirium. Almost all healthcare professionals who look after adults will encounter patients with these problems, we all need the knowledge and skills to care for them.

Every death is different
This learning resource 'Every death is Different' addresses the topic of the hospital as a place of death for frail older people and is based on some research findings from an Alzheimers Society funded research study. A linked resource ' Dying in Hospital' is also available.
