Photograph of an empty wheelchair in a hospital car park.

It was taken by a carer of a sufferer with Huntingdon's Disease and was chosen to reflect her feelings of lack of support.

The researchers involved in this study used a technique called 'photovoice' to draw out issues that were common to all the carers interviewed.

The 'need for support' and the concern at the lack of it (from the health service in particular) was one of the nine themes to emerge from the investigation.
