On Wednesday, 29th of November from 16:00 - 18:00 (GMT), the Human Rights Law Centre hosting the folowing event: From Human Rights to Digital Rights? Discussing the EU Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles. This event will take place in the Monica Partridge Building (Room E07) and online via MS Teams.
In an era of increased digitalisation, many questions are being asked of how we conceptualise and exercise our human rights within digital spaces; from freedom of expression, to the ways in which we access, share, and protect our data. Calls for new and effective regulatory frameworks have become increasingly commonplace. In December 2022, the European Union introduced its Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles, thereby reiterating its commitment to a safe, secure, and sustainable digital transformation. Nearly a year after its introduction, we are creating an opportunity to discuss the impact of this seminal document as well as the current status of digital human rights.
