The Human Rights Law Centre is delighted to invite you to our 2023 Annual Lecture with award-winning journalist, Peter Apps. This event will take place from 17:00 - 19:00 UK time (BST) on campus at University Park (room C14, Monica Partridge building) on Wednesday, 29th of March 2023.
As we approach the sixth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, many questions about the broader circumstances surrounding one of the UK's deadliest structural fires remain unanswered. The disaster, its causes and impacts, have been roundly condemned as breaches of international human rights law but as yet there has been no meaningful accountability.
For our 2023 Annual Lecture, the Human Rights Law Centre will be joined by Peter Apps to discuss the fallout of the Grenfell Tower fire. He will draw on his superb new book, ‘Show Me the Bodies: How We Let Grenfell Happen’ in which he exposes how a steady stream of deregulation, corporate greed and institutional indifference caused the tragedy, and left a grieving community forsaken by our government still waiting for change.
The lecture will be followed by a Q&A/discussion.
All welcome.
