The Human Rights Law Centre will be hosting an event in collaboration with AMICUS: 'Death in TX: An overview of the constitutional, legal, human rights and practical challenges for Death Penalty Defense Attorneys in Texas', scheduled to take place on Wednesday 13 March, 3.15 to 5pm (GMT) in LASS B55 and online via MS Teams.
AMICUS is a due process, fair trials not-for-profit organisation that fights for individuals facing death sentences in the US. AMICUS also facilitates the training and placement of lawyers and postgraduate students to support capital defence offices across the US, including hosting UoN law students as part of the undergraduate year abroad programme with The University of Texas at Austin.
The event will feature a panel of speakers discussing AMICUS’s work, providing insights into the current legal challenges and issues in the US, with a focus on Texas, and highlighting the contributions of UoN students over the years. The presentations will be followed by a Q/A discussion session. Speakers include:
