Today, The United Nations Special Procedures System (Brill, 2017) will be launched at the UN in Geneva in a collaboration between the UN Office Geneva and the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva.
The book is edited by HRLC Economic and Social Rights Unit Head Professor Aoife Nolan, Professor Rosa Freedman (University of Reading) and Professor Thérèse Murphy (Queen's University Belfast).
The launch involves an interactive discussion on the UN Special Procedures System, chaired by Mr Julian Braithwaite, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva. Speakers are Professor Nolan; Professor Freedman; Dr Ahmed Shaheed, UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion and Belief; and Ms Beatriz Balbin, Chief of the Special Procedures Branch, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
