The Human Rights Law Centre, under the leadership of Professor Aoife Nolan, has been collaborating with Child Rights Connect, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, the German Institute for Human Rights, and the Drafting Group of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) to provide CESCR with support in terms of both the substance and process of their forthcoming General Comment on sustainable development and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Professor Nolan, Child Rights Connect and other partners have played a key role in assisting the Committee in mainstreaming child rights and in supporting child participation in the development of this GC. This will include the Committee carrying out its first ever global consultation with children, as well as the inclusion of children in a number of its regional consultations. More information on the General Comment process and the global consultation is available here and here.
