Publishing history pedagogy

The East Midlands Centre (EMC) for History Teaching & Learning is a regional organisation bringing together historians from the nine East Midlands HEIs to develop, share, and investigate excellence in history teaching in higher education. Our workshops provide a forum for colleagues from across the region to discuss aspects of their teaching practice under a specific theme. They are open to PGRs, postdoctoral researchers and academic staff from across the region.
About this workshop
During the Covid-19 pandemic, many colleagues have had the opportunity to reflect more deeply on their teaching practice. Many have innovated with new technologies or pedagogical approaches, and will have developed specific pedagogical initiatives or projects that they might like to work up into an article for publication. This EMC ‘Publishing history pedagogy’ workshop will provide colleagues with an opportunity to receive advice from three journal editors – and academics who have published widely in such publications – on such projects, as well as more general guidance on pedagogy journals and writing and submitting papers for these audiences.
During the final half hour, interested colleagues will also have the opportunity to discuss a potential research project and receive early informal feedback on it as part of a one-to-one session with a journal editor. There are six ten-minute individual slots available. If you are interested in this opportunity please indicate this, and your potential topic or project, when registering your attendance at the workshop. Individual slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
How to book
The workshop will be delivered via Microsoft Teams and will be free to attend. It will be facilitated by EMC members from the University of Nottingham.
