Grappling with Text and Field: German Indology and Colonial Knowledge in Nineteenth Century India

Dr. Indra Sengupta, Senior Fellow and Head of the India Research Programme at the German Historical Institute London

Indra Sengupta is a Senior Fellow, in charge of the India Research Programme, at the German Historical Institute London (GHIL). She worked at the GHIL from 2004 to 2011 and returned in 2012 as Academic Co-ordinator of the Transnational Research Group Poverty Reduction and Policy for the Poor between the State and Private Actors: Education Policy in India since the 19th Century. Her work is a part of the Colonial and Global History research area at the GHIL.
