Description
This one-day workshop is being organised as part of the British Academy (BA)-funded project 'Cultures of the Chinese Cold War in British Southeast Asia', led by Dr Jeremy Taylor (Nottingham) and Dr Xu Lanjun (National University of Singapore). The workshop will feature speakers from Nottingham, Birkbeck, Cambridge, King's College, Liverpool John Moores, Royal Holloway and other universities. The aim of the workshop it to encourage a dialogue amongst scholars who work in very different disciplines (history, literature, politics, geography, film studies, ethnomusicology, etc), but who share an interest in the history and legacy of the Malayan Emergency and the wider Cold War context in late colonial East Asia - especially as they relate to those parts of the region that were once British colonies or territories.
