This conference brings together historians from Germany, the UK and North America in order to discuss approaches to the history of ‘the private’ in Nazi Germany, and to explore the negotiation or contestation of ‘the private’ in relation to specific themes ranging from marriage and intimate relationships to living space and patterns of consumption.
It will consider the situation of Germans and the experiences of those who were living under occupation and enduring persecution in Nazi-occupied Europe.
Conference languages will be English and German.
