The last pit in Nottinghamshire, Thoresby Colliery, closed in July 2015, bringing to an end hundreds of years of mining in the Midlands.

Over nine months, award-winning photographer Chris Upton documented the site, the buildings and the people, creating a unique piece of social and cultural history.

This exhibition is free and open to all. It runs from Tuesday 28 June to Friday 1 July, at Highfield House, University Park. Opening hours: 9.30am-4.30pm.

On Thursday 30 June Chris Upton will give a talk about the exhibition: 6.15-7pm, A02, Highfield House, University Park. Entry free. For more details please email joerg.arnold@nottingham.ac.uk.
