Description
BAHS 2

This workshop is designed to give postgraduate students and early career historians a platform to share and discuss their research in a supportive environment with their peers, academics in the field and other interested parties.

Representatives from the British Agricultural History Society (BAHS) will also talk about the work of the society and offer advice and insights on publishing, impact and public engagement. Prof. Richard Hoyle, Dr Nicola Verdon and Dr John Martin will be amongst those representing the society and talking about their work.

You are invited to submit a proposal for a 15 minute presentation or a 5 minute quick fire presentation.

Participants will be encouraged to publish their contributions in either digital or printed form.

Contributions are welcome from those researching any aspect of rural and agricultural history, broadly defined to include economy, society, and culture, landscape studies, environmental history, and local and regional history, and from medieval, early modern and modern periods.

You are also invited to intend the workshop and engage in discussions during the day without presenting a paper.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Call for Papers

15 minute presentations - these provide an opportunity to present a paper on a defined aspect of your research.
Please provide a 500 word summary of your proposed paper and a one page CV.

5 minute quick fire presentations - these provide the opportunities for participants to present their research in a nutshell and are ideal for people embarking upon a PhD or in the early stages of a research project.
Please provide a 250 word summary of your research, including the focus for your 5 minutes presentation.

Deadline for call for papers - 31 March 2017.

Applicants will be informed whether proposals have been accepted by 11 April 2017. If your paper/presentation is accepted, you will be able to apply for a travel bursary from the BAHS. Participants should however in the first instance apply to their own departments for travel costs.

Please send all proposals and enquires to Dr Sarah Holland.
