Research Funding Success for History Postgraduates

Susanne Sklepek, Olga Bertelsen and Andru Chiorean, all doctoral students in the School of History supervised by Dr. Nick Baron, have been awarded £400 by the British Association of Slavonic and East European Studies towards a symposium scheduled for early 2011 on 'Cultural Construction in Socialist Eastern Europe and the USSR'. The School of History is also providing funds to support the event. Further details will be posted when they are available.

Olga Bertelsen has also been awarded £720 by the Shevchenko Scientific Society, USA, in order to conduct research in Ukrainian archives, and Andru Chiorean has won the University of Nottingham's prestigious Graduate Travel Prize (£600) to enable him to take up a Davis Centre Fellowship at Harvard University for three months in late 2011.
