Joe Merton awarded research project funding

Congratulations to Dr Joe Merton who has received two lots of funding towards his research project entitled Remaking Fear City: Street Crime and the Transformation of New York City, 1965-1985.

Joe has been awarded a British Academy/Leverhulme research grant to contribute to the project and fund his visit and further research in the USA. Alongside this Joe also recently won a Founders’ Research Travel Award from the British Association for American Studies (BAAS) which will also contribute to the progressing study. The project will look into how public fear of predatory street crime in New York City during the 1970s had an effect on the political, cultural and spatial landscape of the city.
