Dr David Appleby will speak at a conference entitled ‘Mortality, Care and Military Welfare during the British Civil Wars’ on Saturday 8 August. This international conference celebrates the opening of the National Civil War Centre where it takes place.
Dr Appleby will present in a panel on ‘Mobility, welfare and memory’, on Saturday morning. Dr Appleby’s paper is entitled ‘The long and winding road: returning home after the Civil Wars’. Also participating in the panel will be University of Nottingham postgraduate student Bethany Marsh whose paper is entitled ‘Lodging the “Irish”: Irish refugees in Nottinghamshire, 1641–1651’.
