Dr James Dawkins joins BBC Radio Nottingham's discussion on the city's statues

During an anti-racism protest in Bristol, the statue of slave trader Edward Colston was pulled down and thrown into the harbour. Throughout the country people are calling for all statues depicting people involved with the international slave trade to be removed. Dr James Dawkins spoke to BBC Radio Nottingham about the topic here in Nottingham and the connection to the university. They talk about the importance of being transparent about the involvement of historical benefactors, who gained wealth through the slave trade, and acknowledging how black and African people contributed to our country.
