Dr. Vincent Chiao presenting

Dr Vincent Chiao discussed competing conceptions of criminal law and punishment at a seminar 28 April at the University of Nottingham. The event, organised by Dr Zachary Hoskins of the Department of Philosophy, was sponsored by the Philosophy Department, the Criminal Justice Research Centre, and the Centre for Normative Political Theory. Chiao, an associate professor of law at the University of Toronto, has written widely at the intersection of law and philosophy, and his forthcoming book is titled Criminal Law in the Age of the Administrative State. In addition to his seminar, Chiao spoke to students in Hoskins's third-year course Philosophy of Criminal Law.
