New book for Mary Cunningham

Mary Cunningham's new book Gateway of Life: Orthodox Thinking on the Mother of God (Crestwood, NY: St Vladimir's Seminary Press, 2015) has just appeared in print.  This short book is intended as an introduction for lay readers to the Orthodox Christian understanding of the Virgin Mary.

Mary, our Assistant Professor in Historical Theology, is currently on research leave at Dumbarton Oaks working on a book on the cult of the Virgin Mary in Byzantium, ca. 400-1200 CE. looking at texts including hymns, homilies, Lives (hagiography), polemical texts (mainly against Judaism and Islam) and epigrams.
