Interested in getting involved with the IntoUniversity mentoring scheme?
In partnership with IntoUniversity, the Widening Participation and Outreach team are looking for voluntary student mentors to support young people with their educational, social and personal development.
IntoUniversity is a charity that the University of Nottingham has worked in partnership with since 2011. They support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing local learning centres where young people are inspired to achieve.
Volunteering as a mentor is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of working with young people, to develop communication, leadership and organisation skills and to explore the charity sector.
The scheme involves:
- Being a mentor and a positive role model to a young person (aged 10-17)
- Attending one-to-one mentoring meetings for one hour per fortnight
- Providing tailored support for academic attainment, social skills and future planning
- Planning fun and inspiring activities for mentoring meetings
Applications are now open. Further information about the scheme and how to apply is available at www.nottingham.ac.uk/go/inspirestudents
Applications close: Monday 25th October 2021
Compulsory Training: Wednesday 27th October, 1:30 – 4:30pm
