Christian Karner's next monograph - the culmination of nearly two decades of research and publications - will be published by Berghahn in December 2019.
The book, Nationalism Revisited: Austrian Social Closure from Romanticism to the Digital Age, is a detailed, always carefully contextualized, empirical examination of different forms of nationalist rhetoric and mobilizing over the longue duree. Located in the interface between sociology and history, Christian's next book also develops and applies a novel theoretical framework highly relevant to, and beyond, nationalism studies.
