Our INFINITY Founder and Co-Director, Meryem Duygun, is selected in the ‘Industry and Knowledge Champions’ category, dedicated to women who work in international and national hubs or ecosystems, non-governmental organisations, schools, colleges or universities. These people are examples of those who go the extra mile to link industry and academia, or who convene a community of FinTech innovators to create a responsible, diverse and inclusive culture.

Professor Duygun established the very first FinTech research network in 2018. She is an Endowed Chaired Professor in Risk and Insurance, funded by Aviva. Her research interests are in risk, financial technologies (FinTech) and inclusive finance.

In September 2021 Meryem was conferred the Fellowship of the Academy of Social Sciences, in recognition for the excellence and impact of her work and her wider contributions to the social sciences for public benefit.

Recently, Professor Duygun established the University of Nottingham Inclusive Financial Technology (INFINITY) Research Hub, which aims to improve inequalities in access to financial services and products. In December 2022, Meryem was also awarded a grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering in support of a socially and economically impactful research project which aims to improve financial education in Africa through a digital approach.

The Women in FinTech Powerlist celebrates some of the amazing women making an impact across the FinTech and Financial Services space. The Powerlist 2022 will shine a spotlight on 250 women across eight categories who have made a significant difference across the sector’s many facets.
