Knowledge and experience

  • Significant experience of working in a business/management school with an international reputation in terms of research, teaching and accreditation.
  • Experience of working in a senior leadership role within a business/management school, including experience of working effectively with the senior leadership of a university.
  • Experience of managing change effectively to deliver improved performance.
  • Well-developed networks within the business and management community at national and international levels (e.g. with Chartered Association of Business Schools, European Foundation for Management Development, AACSB, etc.
  • Experience of successfully managing staff, with the ability and drive to lead, motivate, develop and manage the performance of a team to achieve high performance. 
  • Evidence of a collegial and inclusive approach to management.
  • Experience and capability to act as a role model in the areas of research and teaching as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion matters.
  • Ability and drive to plan and lead the delivery of research and teaching programmes and to develop sources of funding.
  • A sustained track record in publishing internationally excellent, peer reviewed journal articles in a relevant field, including at REF 4* level.
  • Sustained track record of teaching excellence.
  • In addition to the essential criteria stated above the applicant must also be able to show evidence a minimum of 3 of the 5 criteria below:
    • Experience in leading the design of research techniques and methods.
    • Previous experience and success in raising and managing grants and contracts.
    • Proven experience of developing/implementing innovative teaching and learning experiences.
    • Experience of delivering high quality student experience in the teaching and learning discipline.
    • Experience of effective engagement with large and small business organisations

Qualifications, certification and training

  • PhD in a relevant discipline

  • Fellowship/ membership of a relevant professional institution.
