Who are our classes for?

If you're over 18 and are interested in learning a language or improving your existing language skills, our evening language classes are for you. Our classes are open to staff, students and members of the public, so you don't need to have a connection to the University of Nottingham to benefit from our language programme.

Where are the classes taught?

The majority of our classes are held in person classes are held in the Monica Partridge Building on University Park campus.Purpose built for flexible and collaborative learning, equipped with up to date learning technology, the Monica Partridge Building is one of the newest buildings on campus.

Parking is free on campus after 4pm and there are good bus and tram links.

Any classes that are delivered online are clearly labelled. Online classes are taught using Microsoft Teams (or similar). Full instructions on how to access the online classes will be given before the start of the course.

Language used

Teaching is in the target language as much as possible. Many of our tutors are native speakers and all are highly experienced and qualified to deliver high quality language classes.

Class size

In person classes are taught in small groups of between 10 to 20. This ensures good interaction between students and the tutor.

Our online classes are generally smaller to optimise students’ learning experience.

Teaching resources

Resources to support the course include on-line materials which will be made available by the tutor as well as a textbook. Please note that the cost of textbooks is not included in the course fees.

Learning at the correct level

If you find yourself on a level that is too easy or too difficult, you are welcome to move to a different level provided there are spaces available. If you are unable to attend the different level, we will refund your course fees.

I've booked a place, what happens next?

You will receive an automatic confirmation email when you book a place through the Online Store. We will contact all students the week before classes begin to confirm the status of their course and provide more information about the start of term.

The tutor is excellent. He is responsive to student needs and has taken the initiative to use other teaching materials that supplement the course textbook.
