Covid-19 in Prison: a major risk worldwide

Professor Dirk van Zyl Smit, Head of the School of Law to address important webinar on the extreme danger that COVID-19 poses to prisoners. The webinar forms part of the launch of the Global Prison Trends 2020 report of Penal Reform International on Wednesday 22 April 2020. 

At the webinar Professor van Zyl Smit, who also chairs of the board of Penal Reform International, will focus on the particular risk that long-term prisoners have of dying in prison. He will be joined by other distinguished panellists, including Ms Ilze Brands Kehris, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights.
