ELSA Nottingham host National Council Meeting at the School of Law

ELSA Nottingham

The newly elected ELSA UK board 2016/17

ELSA Nottingham, a new local branch of the European Law Students' Association, was delighted to host the bi-annual National Council Meeting at the School of Law; national delegates came from various local groups across the UK, together with several international delegates from the ELSA Ireland national board.

During the weekend, the Council granted full membership status to ELSA Nottingham after an enthusiastic presentation from Co-Presidents Freya Claydon and Jessica Allen. The Council unanimously elected Freya as Vice-Chair of the plenary sessions together with Frank Oxley, ELSA Nottingham's Secretary General, who was appointed as Secretary.

Several workshops took place led by Vedran Stanković, ELSA UK Coach and VP STEP of ELSA International, and Josie Beal, President of ELSA UK 2013-14. Professor Jeff Kenner also led an engaging discussion on the legal implications of Brexit in the UK, culminating in a presentation of his letter of recommendation to the local board for their full membership bid. Most importantly, the Council elected the ELSA UK board for the 2016-17 term: Jessica Allen, who will be returning as President of ELSA Nottingham after a year abroad in Toulouse, was elected as Vice-President of Academic Activities.

The diligent work of the local board and generous support of the School of Law meant that the NCM was a huge success, with many students complementing the organisation of the event (and its beautiful campus setting!). We dearly hope to welcome more ELSA members back to Nottingham in the future.
