School of Law and Pro Bono Society partner with Nottingham Citizen's Advice

The School of Law and Pro Bono Society have been working together over the past few weeks to form a partnership with the Nottingham branch of Citizen's Advice. This has enabled us to recruit eight student volunteers from the School of Law who will be volunteering with Citizen's Advice until December 2018.

Citizen's Advice Nottingham has kindly helped create a bespoke volunteering program for our students suited to their commitments. Each student will be advising clients on appeals concerning disability benefits, in which the branch will be providing all the necessary training. This will range from using their IT systems to how to conduct a professional and effective interview.

The opportunity has proved very popular with students, with more than 50 students registering their interest. The standard of applications was incredibly high and the final decision as to who to put through was a tough one to make. We would like to thank Citizen's Advice for their assistance with the interviews. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who applied and to say congratulations to those who were successful!

We are excited to continue this partnership and bring more opportunities to our students and the citizens of Nottingham alike.
