Guest lecture: Carl Buckley, Barrister at Guernica 37 International Justice Chambers

Carl Buckley and Professor Bekou

On Monday 17 February 2020, Carl Buckley, Barrister at Guernica 37 International Justice Chambers, delivered a guest lecture on ‘The Road to Accountability’ to Professor Bekou’s International Criminal Law LLM class.

Carl spoke about universal jurisdiction cases, explored the role of regional systems and discussed some of the challenges faced by the International Criminal Court in the Rohingya crisis. He also spoke about the possibilities for justice in Syria and answered lots of questions posed by the students.

The School of Law was delighted to welcome Carl to Nottingham who gave a practitioner’s perspective on international criminal justice.
