Public Law Module hosted Ms Lizzie McPeake and Mr Sacha Lord on opening businesses during Covid

On Monday April 26, the Public Law module hosted Ms Lizzie McPeake and Mr Sacha Lord who discussed the judicial review application on the government's decision not to allow hospitality businesses to reopen until five weeks after non-essential retail.

Mr Lord who submitted the application is a music entrepreneur and businessman from Manchester. He also serves as the Night Time Economy Adviser for Greater Manchester. Ms McPeake is a recent graduate of the University of Nottingham. She is currently a solicitor at JMW Solicitors LLP and part of Mr Lord legal team.

The lively discussion concluded the teaching on grounds of judicial review. Students asked various questions on the logic of using certain grounds and on the level of scrutiny of government's actions during the Covid period.

Dr Or Bassok moderated the discussion.
