Dr Aris Georgopoulos, Head of the Research Unit on Innovation, AI, Strategic and Defence Procurement, of the Public Procurement Research Group was invited speaker at the Annual Conference of the iprocureNet, a network of fifteen security organisations from eleven EU Member States active in the field of security, cross-border/joint and innovation procurement. The network is funded by the European Commission.
The annual conference was organised by the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava and was attended by representatives of national ministries and European institutions and agencies such as the European Commission, the EU’s Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) and Europol. Dr Georgopoulos discussed the trends of research and development cooperation in security and defence as well as the best practices and challenges of cross-border and joint procurement in this sector.
