PGR Law and Tech Colloquium 2023

The first PGR Law and Tech Colloquium took place on Thursday 9 March 2023, co-organised and chaired by University of Nottingham, School of Law PGRs Ioanna Lapatoura and Simge Aslan, with support from the Law and Tech Research Group and the UNCLC. The audience enjoyed presentations on the intersection of law and technology by six researchers from four different UK universities: 

  • Dr Ezinne Igbokwe, Lecturer in Law, Nottingham Trent University and former PGR at the University of Nottingham, as keynote speaker
  • Didier Hawkey, University of Nottingham on autonomous vehicles and UK product liability law
  • Luigi Cantisani, University of Warwick on (dis)intermediation of online platforms under EU law
  • Xiaocong Liu, Nottingham Trent University on corporate social responsibility in high-tech companies
  • Benjamin Evans, University of East Anglia on cloud portability and interoperability in light of EU data protection law reform
  • Özgür Milletsever, University of Nottingham on data protection law and artificial intelligence

University of Nottingham Faculty experts in law and technology acted as panellists on the day, engaging with the presentations and offering valuable commentary, including: Professor Paul Torremans, Professor Richard Hyde, Dr Nicholas Gervassis, Dr Oliver Butler, and Dr Aris Georgopoulos.  This Colloquium was a fantastic opportunity to get together, discuss ongoing research and nurture future research collaborations across the different UK institutions!
