On 16 November, Professor Estelle Derclaye participated at a debate organised by the think-tank Bruegel in Brussels on “Is the EU Copyright Directive still fit for purpose in the age of generative AI?” Bertin Martens (Tilburg University and Bruegel) was leading the questions, and Prof. Derclaye, Axel Voss (Member of the European Parliament) and Jeremy Rollinson (Senior Director of EU Government Affairs, Microsoft) were answering. The debate was followed by a large audience of among others economists and lawyers and staff from the European Commission, both online and in person, who asked very interesting questions, leading to a rich further debate.
