"As part of my ACF, I will be working with Professor Benjamin Ollivere, with the main theme of my work being around outcome measures, and which measures should be measured for patients with orthopaedic implant-related infections. This will include fracture-related infections, and also prosthetic joint infections (which will involve a collaboration with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota).

"The work will hope to produce a core outcome set for patients with orthopaedic implant related infections. A wider part of this work will also look into the relevance of different outcome measures and if these vary with ethnicity or socio-economic status."

Abbas See

Abbas See read Medicine at the University of Cambridge and is currently an Orthopaedic Academic Fellow at Queens Medical Centre with a subspecialty interest in Trauma.

He is working with Professors Ben Ollivere and Morgan Alexander on the development of a Bio-Instructive chest drain to be used in traumatic chest injuries. The chest drains are coated in a specialised polymer that prevent the attachment of bacteria onto the tube and also reduces inflammation around the insertion site. At present, he is applying for Doctoral fellowships with the aim of starting his PhD in the Autumn of 2025.
