Cardiology Teaching Package
A Beginners Guide to Normal Heart Function, Sinus Rhythm & Common Cardiac Arrhythmias
National Service Framework
Hospitals now have targets laid down by Government in the National Service Framework (NSF). These targets concern the time we get a call from a patient with chest pain, to the time we administer treatment. (The patient must also have ECG evidence of ST elevation.)
These two targets are known as:
- Call to needle time (1 hour)
- Door to needle time (30 minute from when they come in the hospital door)
Note. At the time of going to press, door to needle time target is 30 minutes, although there is a plan in motion to reduce it to 20 minutes in the near future.
