I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS PRETTY UNLIKELY IN ANY SITUATION WHERE ASSESSMENT IS LIKELY TO BE CARRIED OUT. So I agreed but not v strongly.

Have seen GCS 3 recorded on neurosurgical ward in sleeping child as asleep and no attempt to rouse!

I am not convinced that this statement is necessary as surely this is a clinical distinction which has already been excluded before going on to suspect pathology.

My recollection is that this is what was advocated in the original description of the GCS
