Nottingham element: Rushcliffe
Rushcliffe is a local government district in Nottinghamshire. Its council, Rushcliffe Borough Council, is based in West Bridgford and was formed in 1974.
The district was named after the old Rushcliffe wapentake, which was an administrative area equivalent to a hundred. Rushcliffe means ‘cliff where brushwood grows’ from the Old English.
The Member of Parliament for the parliamentary constituency of Rushcliffe is the Conservative, Kenneth Clarke.
