Flights of Fancy Public exhibition a success

FF1

Flights of Fancy

Staff and students from the Faculties of Engineering and Sciences ran a highly successful public exhibition at the Nottingham Contemporary  art gallery in Nottingham City Centre. The event ‘Flights of Fancy’ aimed to inspire visitors with the theme of ‘Nanotechnology in Aerospace’ and ran on Saturday June 18th  in ‘The Space’ gallery of the Contemporary attracting around 500 people, half of which were young children.

The hands on exhibition featured many fun activities and live interactive science demonstrations. Scientists from Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry and the Universities Nanocentre as well as Rolls Royce had a busy and enjoyable day explaining the impact of nanotechnology on aeroplanes of today and tomorrow. Many of the children took part in a quiz (see how well you can do!) and won one of the many microscopes that were given as prizes.

One of young attendees, Magnus, who won a microscope at the event enjoyed using this at home. He took many amazing pictures.

This event was funded through an EPSRC frunded project, ‘Let Nano Fly'
