Dr Maria Marlow joins the Division of Drug Delivery and Tissue Engineering in the School of Pharmacy after 18 years working in the pharmaceutical industry in various scientific and line manager roles. She has a wealth of formulation experience having worked on late stage and early development drug projects including AstraZeneca’s metered dose inhaler SYMBICORT. Her research will have a strong focus on developing drug delivery systems or diagnostics that address an unmet clinical need.
Her initial research will focus on developing drug delivery systems for localised and intra-tumoral drug delivery using self-assembling gels for gastrointestinal cancer. She is also interested in collaborating on research projects where her drug delivery and industrial experience can be utilised, particularly in the formuation of inhaled therapeutics and poorly soluble drugs.
