Blessing Airhihen

Congratulations to Blessing Airhihen, a final year PhD student in the School of Pharmacy. Blessing was awarded a British Pharmacological Society Oral Communication Prize. The prize was awarded for the best oral presentations at Pharmacology 2016, the annual meeting of the British Pharmacological Society (London, 13-15 December 2016). In addition to a certificate, Blessing received a £250 cash prize.

In her talk, Blessing described the characterisation of compounds that inhibit deadenylase enzymes. The compounds were previously synthesised by MRC-sponsored research supervised by Dr Sebastiaan Winkler and Prof Peter Fisher.

Blessing’s study towards a PhD is funded by the Schlumberger Foundation’s Faculty for the Future programme.
