Funding awards are given in the form of research training bursaries or personal research fellowships.
The research training bursaries are intended to support early career pharmacists who have an interest in developing skills in conducting research relating to their practice. The two researchers from Nottingham who won awards this year are:
Miss Kimberley Sonnex
Kimberley Sonnex, who won a Galen Personal Award of £13,050 for 'Better Targeting of Inhaled Corticosteroids in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Miss Lydia Tutt
Lydia Tutt, who won a Leverhume Training Bursary of £10,091 for 'The Role of the Community Phjarmacist in Breast Cancer Services'
Kimberley said:
“The grant from PRUK has enabled me to attend training courses to develop my research skills in order to complete a PhD. As a hospital pharmacist new to research, PRUK has allowed me to fill in gaps in my knowledge and set me up for a career in research.”
