The University of Nottingham has once again been ranked 6th in the world for pharmacy and pharmacology according to the QS World University Rankings 2018.
There are four components that are combined to produce the subject rankings. These are academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper, and h-index (a way of measuring the productivity and impact of researchers).
Professor Clive Roberts, Head of School of Pharmacy said, “It is enormously pleasing to see that once again we have been recognised as the leading UK School of Pharmacy in the QS World Rankings for Pharmacy and Pharmacology. Our global ranking of 6th in the recently announced 2018 list alongside many world class institutions is a testament to the hard work of all of our staff and students and the excellence of our outputs.”
The school trains the pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists of the future at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Our MPharm degree is accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council and the Pharmacy Board Malaysia and the one-year MSc Drug Discovery and Pharmaceutical Sciences is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Our joint pharmacy course with the Tianjin University of Chinese Medicine, China was this year shortlisted for a Times Higher Education Award and our innovative four-year undergraduate masters in pharmaceutical sciences with a year in industry has been launched successfully.
We also have a multidisciplinary research portfolio focussing on understanding and developing treatments for some of the most complex diseases of our time. We welcome postgraduate research students from a wide range of disciplines to join our thriving community of researchers and to explore world-changing issues at the forefront of science and healthcare.
2018 promises to be another exciting year for the School of Pharmacy. Thank you to our staff and students for their hard work and continued support.
