Biography

I joined the School as an Assistant Professor in September 2017, following the completion of my PhD. My work deals with the interface between the history of political thought and contemporary democratic theory, with a particular concern for debates over peoplehood and collective agency. I am currently working on a project that examines the shifting meaning of the concept of 'constituent power' in the history of European political and legal thought, and the implications this has upon our understanding of collective representation.

Recent Publications

I am very interested in supervising MRes and PhD students who want to work in the following areas:

  • The history of European political thought, especially the 17th, 18th and 20th centuries.
  • Contemporary democratic theory.
  • Constitutional theory.
  • The concept of peoplehood.
  • The political thought of revolution.
