Professor Sue Arrowsmith and Astghik Solomanyan of the Public Procurement Research Group contributed to the important trade and governance training programme of the World Trade Organization last week, joining the WTO's own experts to present at the WTO’s Advanced Workshop on Government Procurement and Governance.
The event, held in Geneva on 13-15 November, focused for the first time on governance, rather than purely trade issues, looking in particular at the problems of corruption and collusion in government procurement and at supplier remedies for dealing with these problems. The event was attended by delegates from more than forty countries, mainly those responsible for government procurement policy in developing countries and former centrally planned economies.
