The BPS Annual Conference was motivating and inspirational experience; I would thoroughly recommend it to Psychology students interested in pursuing careers in psychological research or applied Psychology.
Throughout the day, I attended workshops from influential speakers in their fields, talking about cutting-edge research regarding psychological applications in the real-world.
As I am interested primarily in the mental-health side of the subject, I really enjoyed the presentations about mindfulness interventions, the effect of body image perception on wellbeing and the impact of digital innovation on clinical practise in the future.
The most influential talk of the day was a presentation by Dr Nicholas Almond from the University of Leeds, exploring the extent to which cerebral palsy research is focusing on the right outcome measures and methodology, from his own personal experience of having the disorder.
It was a truly fascinating day and further sparked my interest in the fields of mental health and clinical psychology. The day allowed me to further understand how the knowledge I am gaining from my undergraduate studies is applicable in a range of real-life situations.
