Opportunities to volunteer
Discover ways you can support community efforts against the coronavirus by volunteering.
Please read our Covid-19 guidance on volunteering before applying for any of the opportunities listed below.
Nottinghamshire Community Response Hub
There are opportunities to volunteer through Nottinghamshire County Council by signing up to their Community Response Hub. They are looking for people to help with supplying access to food and medicine, dog walking, and supporting social and physical wellbeing.
Illustrator needed for care home research project
A local research project is developing an app to provide evidenced-based materials which are accessible, robust and relevant for the care sector. The app will support care workers by sharing ideas and advice from prominent figures in major fields ranging from infection control to end-of-life care. If proven useful, they will look to maintain the app and materials afterwards as a national resource.
However, their funding is limited at this stage, so they need an illustrator to volunteer their time. Could you rise to the challenge and support this exciting piece of research? When the pandemic is over, they would also like to host an exhibition of the chosen artist’s illustrations.
Lab staff needed for national Covid-19 testing centre
The Lighthouse Lab in Alderley Park, Cheshire is looking for volunteers to work five days a week, preferably including weekends. They are also in need of night shift volunteers. Virology experience is desirable, but not essential.
This is an ideal opportunity if you have been furloughed, or you are a medical or dental student who cannot currently complete your studies. There are paid and unpaid opportunities – depending on what aligns best with your current financial and contractual circumstances. They will support with sourcing accommodation if required.
