Adam Buttress completed a B.Sc in Chemistry from Leeds University in 2001. Following this, worked in industry for 9 years as a process chemist and subsequently in civil engineering consultancy.URS part sponsored his PhD in the Faculty of Engineering at The University of Nottingham in deleterious reactions in lime stabilised soils under Prof Gordon Airey and Dr. James Grenfell. The remainder was funded through a EPSRC DTG. Following completion of his PhD, he took up at post-doc position in the Industrial Microwave Processing group. He is now a member of the Advanced Materials Research Group (AMRG).
