Franco was invited as speaker and trainer in the 2nd COST Action BM1007 Training School "The Search for Mast Cell and Basophil Models – Are We Getting Closer to Pathophysiological Relevance?" The Training School took place on January 19-21, 2014 in Jerusalem at Belgium House on the Edmond Safra Campus of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The Training School is part of the European Union's (COST Action BM1007) “Mast Cells and Basophils – Targets for Innovative Therapies” and is being held under the auspices of The Hebrew University. The organizers of the School were Prof. Francesca Levi-Schaffer from the Faculty of Medicine of The Hebrew University and Prof. Ronit Sagi-Eisenberg from the Sackler School of Medicine Tel Aviv University. The purpose of the School was to screen current literature on mast cells and basophils, and to evaluate the pathophysiological relevance and limitations of different in vitro and in vivo models available. This is expected to result in a joint position paper.
